Lost forever to disarray

Here,
Hold my hand tight,
And walk by my side,
Away from this world, away from its sight.

Turn your ears deaf,
And eyes blind,
For what is to be felt
Needs only a heart seeking another to bind.

The redness of cheeks,
And the echo of my heart’s beat,
Your hands would do
To feel the flaring burn and the wavering tide.

I started to love you,
With a depth deeper than sea,
A force fiercer than storm,
And a warmth warmer than fire.

Days passed and so did months,
Time flew in a way I never reckoned.
Jewels fainted and castles crumbled over time,
Then who were humans to not have stumbled and tumbled?

Were you not the one
To promise and vow?
To never leave my side,
To never let me wonder the why and the how?

And yet you did all,
Effortlessly and mercilessly.
To live for oneself
You stated is neither selfish nor silly.

I let the words sink in,
I let the reality shatter my fantasy.
For what I had dreamt of,
Would now be another broken fragment of my fancy.

When met for the last time,
You did not smile, nor did you cry.
Just whispered in my ear,
An apology so phony that made my whole self dry.

I saw you walking away,
With a stride full of pride.
Never looking back at a heart blue,
A belief gray and a soul lost forever to disarray.
