Ghosts from past

Winter sky, naked trees and white grass,
Remind you of your long forgotten scars,
They meant to lift your chin up,
Instead, they get into your head and try mess everything up,

A barefoot walk with them on a cold ground,
Lets you relive estranged memories and leads you to an introspective route,
Leaves crumble under your feet,
And heart trembles with that ghostly shriek,

Do they remind you of those nightmarish days?
Do some faces form on those clouds out of unnatural ways?
Do they evoke the pain you survived back in the yore?
Or do they bring back the sunshine you had basked in after burying the hurt in its vault?

Tears you shed, laughs you had,
It all made sense after you reached the tunnel’s end,
Friends you lost and enemies you crossed,
Everyone fit in the maze because no presence was in vain or lost,

You mastered it all, you thought,
Nothing affects you now, none of it matters at all,
All of it held the ground of truth
Until the ghosts revisited your life and cast their shadow near your foot,

Heart racing faster, body turning colder,
Flashbacks living the present making you breathe harder,
But is that what you had made out of those back then?
Sunshine had pierced the cloudy skies, heart suddenly remembered,

And just when you thought that they’d last
All your ghosts from past,
The winter heart of yours warms up and the clenched fists loosen up,
You finally look back into those hollow eyes with all your might,
And relish the reflection of a new you beholding an older you melting in the gone night.
