It is, and still is not!

t1

After ages, he came back to it,
To a place dear to heart,
To a place never forgotten,
To a place called home.

It was there,
standing strong and still and the same.
Away from the chaos of the humans,
away from the edges of the summers.

“What took you so long?”
It wanted to ask him.
“Did you find another one in another faraway land?”
It wanted to ask him.

His hands trembled and legs quivered
when the time came to get near it.
Was it the extreme weather outside?
Or the swirling confusion inside?

He entered in a place he knew he’d have to one day.
He entered in a place he had stepped out of one fine day.
A place that had only him,
but he had more than one.

His world shifted when he saw the inside.
It was not his home.
Walls had tricked him,
for the heart had changed, the soul had changed.

“I waited for you a long time”,
It told him.
“Many summers and winters and autumns and springs passed”,
It added in a quivering voice.

He was still processing what he witnessed
when a finger poked him,
“Is there something I can help you with, Mister?”
A lady unknown asked him.

Rendering her with no answer, he rushed outside.
Out he ran, and ran away from that place.
When he stopped, he looked back at that apparition and wondered,
It is, and still is not!

Thank you, Lynne. I’m glad the poem let those imagination juices of yours flow.

I’ve been terrible with the responses, and maintaining my blog from past couple of months. A professional thing had been in way, which is successfully and fortunately in place now. How have you been? Will check out your space soon.

    Hey! Aditi..hws you doing?
I love this beautiful masterpiece of feelings wrapped in emotional words and i can relate myself to it.
We stay away from home but somewhere our heart resides there only and i think we all had that connection with home that is always calling by sending sweet vibes of memories.
Keep writing & have a great week ahead!😇

Hi Prashantt! I’ve been fine. How are you? This is an awfully late response, but I’ll be regular from now on, with the posts as well as the responses, like it had been before.

Thanks, again. I’m glad you liked the piece and could relate to it. In the world of living everywhere and nowhere, this poem will be relatable to many, I guess.

More power to those who stay away from home, and have to keep and carry that home in their hearts.

Apologies for this late a response, Ragazza. Hope you’re doing fine.

This is an amazing piece of work. I think you are referring to a person who is coming back to his home after a long time and the home is conveying its feelings. But since home doesn’t have feelings I think the person is imagining and connecting his home with his own previous self which is lost somewhere and he misses him badly. That was just my interpretation. I simply loved the poem. Good job. Keep writing.

First of all, apologies for responding this late, Shreyans. Sat to pen down something, but realized responding to these comments are what I should be starting with.

And this is the thing that I love about art- it gives an unapologetic space for imagination and interpretation. Although, my image while writing this poem was bit different than yours, but it totally says what you’ve interpreted too. Isn’t that something in itself? To be able to see beyond and around to what was intended.

I’m glad that you liked the piece.
