Away from turning Wild

Dark-night-full-moon

She holds it in
deep inside,
in some place dark
where not a light flickers.

What it is
is not to be questioned.
Because it isn’t a lie,
Neither a façade.

Everybody has it
in the depth of their eyes,
in the dungeons of their heart,
in the thick of their soul.

Bright and clear sky changes its cover,
To give way to a dark and veiled night.
And that is when she holds on to it
with all her might.

Nights make her uneasy.
Messy she becomes and begs for mercy.
Struggle sets in to not unleash it,
for, if set free, it would shackle her down not let be.

She would turn into darkness,
and would destroy all,
all that lay inside her,
all that lay outside her.

But aren’t we all She?
Don’t we all have it somewhere hidden?
Don’t we all have tried to keep it tamed?
To keep that demon sane away from turning wild.

There is, indeed. It’s just about acceptance of the fact.

In answer to your question Aditi, I wasn’t into poetry for a long time, but got to do some on the writing course, and studied the Romantic poets who I found I really enjoyed becasue they drew upon nature and human nature. I don’t have any favourites as such, but my favourite style for modern times is as yours is written.
    Cheers!

I’m humbled, Lynne. This appreciation means a lot.
I have never considered myself a poet (I still don’t), and it’s just recently, as I told before too, that I’ve gotten into it; and as it is here now, I hope it is for ever.

great writing, Aditi, I loved the shaping and the rhythms, and the questioning right at the end – all of this is what I love in poetry!

      Thank you so much, Lynne!❤️
Poetry was never something that intrigued me; not ever giving it a chance was one of the reasons, I guess. But from past couple of months, I have been too much into it. There is something in poems that make you look at yourself differently, make you aware of the things that you never thought existed. It is just a matter of few lines (or sometimes even few words) and their magic engulfs you.
Are you into poetry too? Do you own any poetry books? Favorite poets?

      I’m glad, Steve!☺️
No matter how much we try, these demons do succeed in unleashing themselves once in a while. And, well, as you said, they do make our life interesting; sometimes in a good way and sometimes in not-so-good ways.
How have you been? How’s life?

Life is good, I have a bit of sunburn but apart from this all is good. How about your good self?

I’m good too. A part of my life is laboriously stagnant and other, an overwhelming progress. Don’t know what to make out of it. Time will tell.😄
The only, in fact two, good things that I can remember happened to me in past few days are- audio books and new music.

Life is strange like that but as long as we have books, life will continue to be good. Music helps too!

These demons didn’t let me be sane until I wrote this down. And now I’m glad they didn’t.
