With 2018 at its brink

Don’t rely on a year to bring the change,
It was never a magical year but a magical you.

Don’t rely on the first day of the first month of yet again another year to alter the routine,
It was never a fairylike day but a fairylike determination.

Don’t rely on an astrologer’s verdict of your coming year,
It was never the result of his verdict but your efforts’.

Don’t rely on New Year resolutions as well,
It were never a year’s resolutions but a day’s planned repeated maneuver.

And just like that, don’t rely, again, on the people who ditched you this year,
People do change, yes! A character rarely does.

Instead, rely on the fierce fire within you,
On the famishing dreams within you,
On the raging passions within you,
On the indomitable yearning within you. 

And when, 
with 2018 at its brink, 
you look back, 
you will see what made 2018 your year.
